HTMUA Asset Management System Database Dictionary

The Database Dictionary serves as a guide to the development and maintenance of water and sewer utility information for the HTMUA.  The following illustrates the general configuration of the HTMUA site:

Information included in this Database Dictionary includes the following:

· General system specifications including GIS layer format, facility numbering, horizontal and vertical coordinate registration, map symbology, and map annotation (text).

· Information on each layer in the HTMUA utility GIS including Arc/Info coverage name, facilities represented within the coverage, topological/connectivity rules, attribute table structures and field definitions, and attribute domains (valid values) for fields with restricted values.

Potable water, sanitary sewer and parcel layers are included in the HTMUA Asset Management System and are described within the Database Dictionary:  The database dictionary does not describe the format and content of base maps for the HTMUA site.  Base maps for the site include 1-foot (meter??) resolution orthophotography from the State of NJ, along with data created and maintained by the HTMUA.  Data may be collected using a combination of GPS units, traditional survey methods, conversion of existing CADD drawings and digitization of hard copy source documents.

Developers turning contributing water and sewer infrastructure will be responsible for submitting asset data to support the HTMUA’s Asset Management System.  The HTMUA’s Asset Management System will provide the necessary data to support the development of utility applications such as:

· Utility asset inventory

· Routine and emergency operations and maintenance

· Condition assessment

· System network modeling and tracing

· Engineering design/build studies
